The programme

About the programme

The Massage Therapy course teaches therapeutic massage for comfort and recovery: the back, the shoulders and the neck that a shift leaves tight, and the limbs that are being brought back into use.

What the programme covers

Anatomy and surface landmarks, the indications and the contraindications, posture and the therapist's own body mechanics, the classical strokes and how to sequence them, and the record of a session. The course is clear about what massage does and does not treat: it supports a rehabilitation plan, it does not replace one.

How it is taught

Ten two-hour sessions, mostly practical, on tables in the skills lab. Students work in pairs under supervision, giving and receiving, so the pressure and the pace are learned from both sides of the table.

Where it leads

Wellness and rehabilitation settings, physiotherapy clinics as a support role, and the home-care visit where a carer is asked to ease a patient's day.
